This small ensuite bathroom is the perfect balance between classical style and functionality. The goal of this project was to achieve a large airy feeling in this small 5’x7′ ensuite bathroom.
The beautiful carrera marble floor is the inspiration for this room. The hexagon tile pattern is a great compliment to the retro parquet flooring in the master bedroom. We have paired it with a simple white subway tile and accented both with a soft grey grout which creates shape and impact on the tile wall. The carrera marble is then repeated in the accent tile wrapped around the entire room, on the shower threshold and in the shower niche. By simply repeating the marble it helps to unify the space and adds to the feeling of enlarging this small bathroom.
When working in small spaces storage is important, but it does not have to impede the style of the room. A simple niche shelf in the shower gives storage for shampoo and soaps while adding to the minimal aesthetic of the bathroom. When trying to create an open airy feeling a pedestal sink is your best choice. You can see more of floor space around the sink the room which makes the room look and feel larger. To help solve the issue of storage fvk designed a custom his and hers medicine cabinet. This gives ample storage for the daily needs in the bathroom, and a small display area to help add interest to the minimal room. The walnut wood is a warm contrast to the grey carrera and white tile walls. The cabinets double mirrors help to reflect light again lending to the open feeling in this small bathroom. The glass shower wall and door are absolutely essential in helping to create a large airy feeling in this 5′ x 7′ space. To solve the issue of minimal wall space towel bars were installed on the outside of the glass shower wall and door. Finally the use of bright green towels and accessories gives this white, and grey colour scheme a fun kick.
